Global Exchange Program for WASHPlus in Schools
As a part of a global exchange program, Ms. Urjita Mainali from Ronald Reagan Middle School, Hay Market, Virginia, USA of grade 7th volunteered with PNMF to conduct MHM awareness and training program for students of Susanskrit Higher Secondary School in Shantinagar, Rupandehi district. On the same day she also led the program with the local community women of Rohini Rural Municipality, of Rupandehi district.
Her presentation covered the key points on: menstrual hygiene’s definition and importance, and breaking down the stigma surrounding menstruation. She also delivered training on proper hand washing techniques and provided information on when to wash hands and other important hygienic habits, such as showering daily, washing reusable pads properly, and hygiene-related diseases. Further, She communicated about the standards that must be set to achieve proper menstrual hygiene management, and how accomplishing this is would be a community effort. At last, handed out menstruation kits containing reusable pads, soap, a towel, and a Ziploc bag.
